Protect Your Results with Proper Maintenance of Laminar Flow Hoods

Even though laboratory housekeeping is essential, this task can often fall off of the priority list. Cleaning your laminar flow hood on a regular basis has proven to provide safe and accurate results. But as with most things, there’s a right way and there’s a wrong way.

We recommend using 70% ethanol to wipe down your cabinet.
  • Clean the ceiling of the unit first.
  • Clean the back wall (of a vertical laminar flow hood) next, going from top to bottom.
  • Clean the sides (swiping from top to bottom in overlapping lines).
  • The work surface should be the last surface cleaned, beginning in the back and ending at the front of the unit.

Our most recent brief “Keeping it Simple: How to Properly Clean Your Laminar Flow Hood” offers 10 easy and simple steps for cleaning your laminar flow hood and keeping it in service for many years.
